Two Weeks from Today…

Thirteen days, three  hours, and seven minutes.

As I write this, that is how long we have until

My shiny new cover art! isn't it pretty?

My shiny new cover art! isn’t it pretty?

Hunting Medusa is out!  I’m in marketing mode now, working on guest blog posts (writing, revising, and revising again!).  I’m finalizing details for the release day party that’s going to happen over on my Facebook page.  I knew there was going to be promo involved when I finally sold a book.  I’ve saved articles and webpages for years.   Clearly, none of them really made clear the level of urgency an author feels in the last days before her book comes out.  And by urgency, I mean flat-out panic.   So much to do, in addition to all the normal, everyday things.  Then there are the last-minute realizations–oh, that’ll never work; or hm, I could do this instead and wouldn’t that be better?–which slow down the works.

I have a whole new respect for my published friends right now.  If I make it through release day without completely losing my mind, it’s going to be a miracle.

I need blinders to keep me on-task, because my brain is easily distracted these days, with the revolving to-do list in front of me.  My website is in the final stages, as well, which means questions and approvals with the web designer (who is doing a fantastic job, by the way; I can’t wait for you all to see the site, it’s gorgeous!).  I have rewrites on the second Medusa, which are far, far behind where I wanted them to be by now.  The dayjob, the search for a new, better dayjob. Et cetera, et cetera.  I can keep going, but some of you already know exactly what I’m talking about.  The next two weeks are going to be frantic, if the past week or so is any indication.  I may take up professional drinking.  Or chocolate eating.  Days like these are when I wish my office had a door.  With a lock.  And an adjoining bathroom, a pull-out couch and a small refrigerator.

I may need one of these before it’s all done.

On the other hand, when it’s all done, I’ll have my lovely book to show for it.  And hopefully some readers who fall as much in love with Andi and Kallan as I have.

In the meantime, I’ve posted a new snippet over on my Facebook page again today, and I’d love if you’d check it out.  Heck, if you haven’t read any of them, there are more than a few there now, since I’ve been trying to post a little excerpt each week to entice readers to try out Hunting Medusa.

Now I’m going to go hunt up some more chocolate and dig back into this guest blog I’m working on for release week.  Don’t mind me talking to myself while I do it.
