Now that it’s May, I think spring might have finally arrived for real this time. Which means I should really get the flower bed cleared of the weeds that have been growing in the cold and rain for the last month. But probably not this weekend.
This weekend is Mother’s Day, horse racing, and my wedding anniversary.

This Saturday twenty-two years ago was very rainy. But it didn’t start out that way, which was good, since we got married outside under very pretty blooming dogwood trees. But by the time our photographer got finished taking pics of all of our wedding guests with us, the rain had started. Someone told me afterward that rain on a wedding day is good luck. I suppose, as long as you’re not also having your reception outside, that must be true–twenty-two years is a good start.
Which makes me think about other milestones: birthdays, achievements.
We always celebrate birthdays here at my house, as well as anniversaries. But when I consider other things, I realized it’s been almost two and a half years since Hunting Medusa was released in ebook, and almost a year and a half since the trade paperback came out. I know some of you have asked about the next book in the trilogy, and I wish I had actual release news for you. But a couple of months ago, my publisher announced that they were going out of business. They haven’t reached the end of the road, yet, but they’re getting closer. But in the meantime, you can still find it if you were meaning to read it and just didn’t yet–pretty soon it will be unavailable, which makes me very sad. I suppose that day will be a milestone of another sort, and not one I will celebrate.
Are there any milestones you celebrate beside the usual?
My shiny new cover art! isn’t it pretty?
