We went from the middle of February till the beginning of September at my day job with no manager, which meant that much of that time, I was in charge, and I didn’t want to be. I’ve done it before at other jobs and didn’t mind it. I don’t want to do it for my current employer, for any amount of money. So it was lovely when we finally got a new manager and I got to step back into my regularly-scheduled role. Now, however, our great new manager has discovered this isn’t for her. Which means when she leaves in a week, I’m going to have to do it all over again. Unless of course I find a new job in the meantime. (Oh, how I hope!)
So I’m a little bit stressed out right now. That, plus the fickle weather here in the past few weeks, and now I’m down for the count with some sinus ick. I don’t think it’s a cold, but I could be wrong. Pretty sure it’s just sinus ick, which is bad enough. Combine that and the stress, and my revisions are going even more slowly than they already were.
I have a month till Thanksgiving. A month until my self-imposed deadline to finish these blasted revisions so I can send my second Medusa off to my agent. That makes more stress. Vicious cycle, no?
I took today completely off. No writing or revising of any sort today. I slept late, drank lots of tea, threw supper in the slow cooker, and didn’t even get out of my pajamas till nearly supper time. Now I’m ready to get back in them and crawl into bed.
I’m certain my brain needed a veg day. Maybe more than one, but work isn’t going to allow that any time soon. What do you do when your brain just won’t cooperate anymore?
Oh, and, in case you’ve been waiting, I posted a second excerpt from Hunting Medusa over on my Facebook page tonight. I hope you’ll let me know what you think so far.
My shiny new cover art! isn’t it pretty?
