The Never-Ending To-Do List

I have so many things that need to be done, I almost don’t know where to start.  If I were making a to-do list, it might look like this:

This is what my to-do list should actually look like, before I fill all the spaces with more things than I can possibly do on my day off:

To be fair, I have gotten some things done today that really need to be done.  The trouble is, I know not everything is going to get done, because I don’t have a clone.  Or five.  If that were the case, I could sit in a room by myself and write while they did all the work on my to-do list.  Hmm…perhaps I need to befriend a scientist.

In the real world, however, there is just me, doing the best I can most days to get things accomplished.  So far today, it’s been dinner prep with pork chops marinating, more laundry (I swear it multiplies; who wears all these clothes, anyway?), a quick mini grocery trip, a visit to the post office to send off some promo goodies  for a blogging friend to give away, a few last details for a guest blog post, updating things on the laptop, and that doesn’t  even include the little stuff.  Good grief, I really do need a clone.

Some of these things I want to get done before the heat and humidity sets off thunderstorms a little later, just in case the power goes out.  Some are necessary to get finished in order to do things further down the list.  But the more big things that get checked off, the closer I am to putting on my headphones and digging back into rewrites, which is my real aim today.

Oh, and I mentioned the guest blog post.  That is probably going live tomorrow, Wed, June 18 over at Book Country.  It was a fun little post to put together about cover art, and I hope you’ll check it out.

While I get back to my to-do list, I hope you’re all finding someplace cool to enjoy a good read with a cold drink.  And maybe, if you haven’t yet, you might want to check out my book, though I can assure you, you’ll need something frozen to drink if staying cool is your aim.

My shiny new cover art! isn't it pretty?
