What If……?

It’s a children’s game to start–what if…you were turned into a dragon?  a way to stretch imaginations and play.  All writers play the ‘what if’ game, too.  You get a germ of an idea and while doing your prep work or actual writing, your brain is saying ‘what if’ all the way along till the end.  I love what if.  What if you won the lottery?  What if you could do the one thing you most wanted for the rest of your life?

What if you were walking along through these trees and someone or something unexpected came out of the mist?

How do you use ‘what if’ when you’re writing?  And if you don’t write, I bet you still play ‘what if’. How?
